2009 Arc Program at the Equine Spirit Sanctuary

Equine Assisted Growth and Learning Activities

Every other Wednesday, from 1 to 2 p.m.

3 clients from the ARC will be brought to ESS where they will be introduced to the horses and Bindy, the miniature donkey. Activities to include petting, grooming, leading exercises depending on clients’ abilities and interest. Sessions typically also include visits (petting, brushing) Max, Ruth’s Delta Society Pet Partner dog.

Purpose and goals: To provide meaningful, new experiences for Arc clients, based on the therapeutic benefits of animal/human interaction.

Requirements: 1 to 2 staff persons from the Arc; signed liability release forms for each client.

Equine Spirit Sanctuary provides the equines, facility, equipment, experienced leader and volunteers.

Cost per session:
$50 per person x 1.5 hours for each visit
$225 total for 3 clients


Individual sessions, for clients like Mike, can be scheduled separately, in addition to or in place of the group sessions: 1 hour, 1x/week is $75. These sessions would include equine assisted learning activities, grooming and leading the horses, and may include riding if appropriate for the client.
