Foster Children Program at the Equine Spirit Sanctuary

Learn About Horses from the ground up

For children between the ages of five and 12, specifically in foster care.

Activities to include petting, grooming, leading exercises depending on clients’ abilities and interest.

Purpose and goals: To provide meaningful, new experiences for the children, based on the therapeutic benefits of animal/human interaction.

Requirements: Caseworker, foster parent or designated responsible adult who will bring the child to ESS and stay for the duration of the session; signed release forms for each client.

Equine Spirit Sanctuary provides the equines, facility, equipment, and instructors.

Individual sessions: 1 hour, 1x/week. $50*. These sessions would include equine assisted learning activities, grooming and leading the horses, and may include riding if appropriate for the client.

Minimum commitment: 4 sessions, with a review scheduled at the end of the first month with the child’s guardian or caseworker.

Must pre-register. Classes begin the first week of May.


*Please contact Ruth if you would like to sponsor a child for this program. We are currently doing a raffle to raise funds for the program and welcome any other donations and assistance so we can provide the opportunity for as many children as possible to participate in these classes.
