The celebration features pets, food and entertainment, vendors, and educational demos for the whole family.

Taking place at Kit Carson Park from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Animals Matter Day is free and provides Taos residents and visitors an opportunity to meet unique animals, animal experts, pet enthusiasts and enjoy unique cowboy style entertainment, and food. The event was created to increase awareness of animals in our homes and communities, learn about responsible pet ownership, provide opportunities to volunteer with local animal organizations, and discover the latest issues and products important to the animal community. There will be pets available for adoption from area animal centers.

Headlining “Animals Matter Day” is noted cowboy entertainer and guest emcee Joe Green, whose latest album from Ten Gallon Records, “Texas Original-Live,” follows his Top-10 album “Back to the Good Old Days.”  He delivers a brand of cowboy poetry and western music that has entertained thousands.

The celebration will also dog training demos by local trainers. Pet the Equine Spirit Sanctuary’s miniature donkey, meet Goldstar’s Delta Society Pet Partner teams, and get acquainted with Taos area animal professionals and hobbyists. Enjoy a day in the park, dedicated to the love of animals and how much they matter in our lives.
