ESS Calendar

Summer 2020:  ESS is still closed for equine-assisted therapies and activities. We are still hoping to do some lessons with our Horses Helping Kids therapeutic riding program this season, depending on how things go with our state's COVID-19 restrictions. Our biggest priority is that everyone stay safe and healthy!

We began gradually reopening for volunteers and visitors, but will not resume regular schedules or operations until the COVID-19 pandemic is no longer a threat to our health and well-being. If you want to volunteer, please email Marty, our volunteer coordinator, for more information. Visitors must make an appointment to come out.

Thank you for your continued support and understanding. When this health crisis is over, we look forward to getting back to our normal schedule. We hope that all of our ESS friends and family stay safe and healthy, and look forward to seeing you again soon.

In the meantime, our horses and donkeys are being well cared for and we are planning to continue our regular programs as soon as possible. We are basically closed temporarily - but ESS is NOT closing!

2011 Christmas Letter

Bindy was the recipient of the prestigious 2011 Milagro Animal Award presented by Animal Protection of New Mexico. The award was presented October 1, 2011 at a banquet in Santa Fe. Bindy was recognized for his "outstanding intelligence and/or courage."

Santa Fe artist Barbara Meikel sponsored Bindy's award and created a beautiful oil painting of Bindy and Tali, titled "He's My Hero." Animal Protection of NM did a video of Bindy and ESS that was shown at the awards ceremony.

We are very proud of Bindy's accomplishments. He's just a tiny little donkey, but he has a big, big heart and he is an important part of the ESS family as well as our mascot.

Bindy wearing his silver medallion posing with a giclee of the painting, a limited edition of 200. Barbara is donating proceeds of the sale of these giclees to ESS and Animal Protection Services of New Mexico. Contact Barbara at Meikle Fine Art for purchase information.
